BELONGING TO OURSELVES

Our sense of belonging

is in direct proportion

the degree to which

we are true to ourselves

If we don’t belong to ourselves, it can be hard to feel as though we belong anywhere.

I think accepting who we are is one thing but expressing who we are is a whole other ball game. To embody our true self requires action. If we’re sitting on the sidelines of our life not living in alignment with our truth... you are saying to yourself: “You don’t belong here”.

You can be surrounded by people, but it’s a lonely place to be.

I heard Martha Beck say on a podcast yesterday.. “we can create our life to look any way we want. We just have to be willing to let others think we’re weird”.

If being true to yourself means you risk looking weird. Risk it. I think never belonging inside your own life is a far more difficult path to endure.
